Youth Activities

We run two Youth Clubs for deaf children and young people. Junior youth club is for deaf children aged 6-11 years and runs from 4-6pm, Senior youth club is for deaf young people aged 12-18 years and runs from 6-8pm. Both youth clubs run once a month of the fourth Friday of every month. Food is provided and we also have a tuck shop.

Junior Youth Group

At junior youth club we play team games so everyone can take part and we also have one messy play activity and a craft activity. There is also quiet corner with books for anyone who wants to chill out after school. It’s an opportunity for deaf children to spend time with other deaf children so they don’t feel isolated.

Senior Youth Group

At senior youth club we are currently working on the young people taking charge of the running of the group and taking on different roles within the club. This helps give them a sense of responsibility and improves their confidence and self esteem. We play games and do activities and we also do activities based around life skills and promoting self esteem and confidence. Here’s what our Senior’s say about Youth Club:

  • “I have made new friends who are similar to me”
  • “It’s a good laugh”
  • “It’s more understanding here (of our deafness)”
  • “It helps deaf children feel less alone”
  • “I have learnt new skills”
  • “It’s fun”
